Matt spent four years with the Queensland Department of Primary Industries' Farming Systems Institute, where he filled the key role as Corporate Communications Officer. As part of this role Matt was involved in media, promotions and communications activities, many at senior government levels.

He has also worked as national publications and marketing manager for a national grain and cotton marketing company and has worked as editor of a community newspaper.

His skills include writing of press releases and media alerts, liaison with media to gain best possible coverage, brochure copy writing, reports, magazine articles, speeches, briefing notes, newsletters and web content.

He has been published widely as a freelance journalist in rural media, The Canberra Times and a range of specialty magazines.
