Conference Media
Media and news coverage of your conference and key speakers
can leverage the value of your conference. Tight economics means most
news and media outlets don't have the time or resources to seek out the newsworthy aspects of most conferences.
What is needed is a conference media officer who can develop conference
media strategies and act as the interface with the media to achieve enhanced
media coverage.
Effective media liaison can put your conference and many of its speakers
and conference proceedings onto the media map.
Services that are supplied through Matt's conference media liaison service include:
- Discussion on media strategy
- Review of papers to determine those with most newsworthy content
- Generation of extended media alerts
- Where required, generation of media releases for different media types
- Distribution of approved media releases
- Followup of releases with media outlets
- Onsite media liaison
- Basic interview training for talent
Testimonial 1. Matt Eliason has successfully placed two conferences on the map. The 4th Australian Sorghum Conference enjoyed wide media exposure, resulting in several of the speakers and their topics featuring on ABC morning drive radio, the major ABC radio news broadcasts of the day, The Country Hour radio program, syndicated on SKY radio news (rural), national ABC TV news, ABC radio afternoon drive, metropolitan, regional and rural print media and internet news services.
Thanks to Matt, our conference was an even greater success than we could have imagined. His ability to help us identify newsworthy aspects of the conference and work with us to capitalise on those aspects helped create a great industry and public awareness of the work being undertaken in the sorghum industry and its impact. We were especially impressed with the level of media interest in what was essentially a specialised industry conference. Dr Andrew Borell - organising committee.
Testimonial 2. Gaining media exposure was one of our goals for our 13th Biennial Sunflower Conference held in Yeppoon in 2001. Matt Eliason made that goal happen. From reviewing conference papers and generating media alerts, to follow-up of media to ensure maximum media exposure, we had excellent media coverage thanks to Matt's efforts. This included Channel 9 TV, the Health Report, ABC radio rural reports and national radio, SKY network rural news (Qld, NSW and Vic), and state and national newspapers. Matts interview training really helped presenters to relax through their interviews, with the added advantage of knowing they had delivered their key messages.
We are looking at using Matt's services again this year for our next conference. Dr Gary Kong - Australian Sunflower Association.
