In our last post we introduced our SMS service and how it could have helped with the school that had short notice about closure do to swine flu.

Today in the news is this about another school:

But the school’s principal says she was only informed of the required closure (by the Department) a few hours before school was due to open this morning.

She says any student arriving alone would stay at the primary school until a parent is contacted.

Just this week we have contacted many schools about our SMS service. Many schools have undertaken the short sign on process and readied themselves to use SMS as a communications method.

One of the schools contacted was the school quoted – unfortunately they did not have the SMS system in place.

The SMS system provides an excellent front line communication method about school closure or a range of other events. Ringing parents is slow and time consuming and limited by the number of phone lines available.

If your school or workplace needs a rapid communication system – why not register for our service? It is free to set up and costs only when you send messages. Sign on and details at http://www.plusone.com.au/smscentral
