In an effort to maintain profitability, Australian mobile phone providers have been massaging the way they offer plans to consumers.
For the consumer, while the deals may appear appealing with new handsets and included calls and data, the reality is consumers are falling victim to clever marketing and increasing call rates.

One aspect of success in business can be the ability to see an opportunity and to act on it. Sometimes you will meet with success, other times not.
This is an article about how a Chinese entrepreneur saw a ring, and decided to make a close replica.

More importantly, it provides a small window into the psychology of many Chinese – which I saw exhibited time and time again when I visited there last last year. This is if there is a resource or opening and no one is taking it, then they will. (Which is why they will step into any gap in a queue.)

While there are many websites that can help you reduce the costs of overseas travel on aspects like hotels, airfares, car hire and tours, many people come home to a shock when they receive their mobile phone bill after using it while set to global roaming.
Many countries are notorious for their costs of telecommunications, especially when you have set your phone to global roaming.
Several years ago on a trip to The UK and France, after minimal outbound and inbound calls I was unpleasantly surprised at my next mobile phone bill.

It seems the cost of shopping at Woolworths supermarkets is about to get a little more expensive if you use a Visa or Mastercard debit card with news that the supermarket giant will no longer be allowing people to use the credit option when using debit cards.
As reported in Inside Retailing
“The only change for customers using Visa Debit and MasterCard Debit cards will soon be the need to press either the `cheque’ or `savings’ buttons to access their funds through the Australian-owned eftpos network, rather than the international credit card network,” Woolworths said.

I was reading an article the other day about the progressive inroads that Microsoft’s new search engine Bing is having is the search world.
Admittedly they are still a long way behind and only have a small sector of the market, but its popularity is slowly increasing. If you have not seen it yet, check it out.
Reports are that Microsoft has spent 100 million dollars on advertising to get the new search engine into people’s faces.
But is Microsoft its own worst enemy? I ask this because while Bing is being promoted as a product brand, it is also being branded as a Microsoft product. Seems the powers that be at Microsoft just cannot resist keeping one branding hand on their new baby.
