They are taking the UK by storm, following their Sheila’s Wheels commercial on TV -Australian Cathi Ogden, 36, 39-year-old Liverpudlian Emma Robbins and Carly Romain, 27, from Wales are taking the UK and soon I think the rest of the world by storm with their debut album (I’m So) Happy Happy (You’re Mine), on September 17.

So what better think to toast the success of their recording contract with Pete Waterman than a fun caricature acknowledging their launching pad to success than a The Sheila’s caricature

I was interested to read this snippet and grap on emarketer.com’s website.
We have all had the value of email marketing repeatedly promoted to us, but even search engines and email combined still falls short of the power of TV.
While TV is outside the scope of many, it shows that perhaps even a short burst of a really innovative ad with a strong call to action could set up a useful flow on buzz about your product or service.
Interestingly social networking websites are almost non-existent as awareness creators in this survey. Continue Reading »

160Characters Association had this interesting post about the use of SMS as a response mechanism.
A direct mail campaign initiated by the theatre and their advertising agency, Mike Lynch Advertising went to nearly 150,000 addresses in the Sunderland area. The mailer invited recipients to text EMPIRE and their postcode to 60777 to see if they where a winner. The prizes included free tickets to shows at the theatre, discounts on ticket prices and free refreshments or ice cream.
“We asked Interlinked Media to construct and run the entire mobile campaign for the Sunderland Empire” said Clare Lee from Mike Lynch Advertising. ”In the space of 6 weeks, over 23,000 unique people responded to the campaign, a response rate in excess of 15%. On several days over 3,500 people entered the promotion, resulting in queues down the street. ”

I was reading an article in eMarketer titled Customer Reviews Increase Web Sale and for a few moments I thought here is a great idea!
Takle a look at this graph for a moment:

Every so often a piece of software comes across my desk that literally shouts LOOK AT ME
One such title is Timeline Maker Professional. What it does is creates a graphical time-line representation of a series of events. In its most elementary form this allows an easy visualisation of events.
The application get really interesting with its ability to embed other files into the time line. These could be photos, audio files or even video clips.
Getting the information into the software is not hard either – if entering data from scratch then simply use the interface that is styles on MS Excel, or use the import filter to bring in data from other applications.

Here is a novel marketing initiative by HSBC – they are offering a credit card that is fee free of fees and charges.
While the offer period means that fees and charges apply after January next year on purchases, and until March 08 for balance transfers (if you want to escape a high interest cost card I guess) until then you get all the advantages of a credit card, but none of the costs.
For those seeking an easy way to effectively get a loan for free and pay it back by the end of the year, this represents a pretty damn fine deal.
I guess the fees and interest earnings they miss out on for six months will be recouped when customers are rolled over onto a regular credit card and one assumes, stays a customer for a long time.
I’ve not done too much thinking about the relevance of this, mainly because I have a fairly negative view of MySpace and won’t even entertain the notion of a silly name like FaceBook – or it could be I’m a boring old fart…
But here are some stats that you may wish to ponder over.
