Two new Google maps things of interest

Yes I have been slack in looking at developments to do with Google maps, but one represented a great marketing opportunity.
Free ads for Sydney businesses
Seems Google advertised the fact that they would be taking new photos of Sydney for Google Maps (and one assume Google Earth) - surely a huge marketing opportunity for any switched-on businesses who could get something organised - a great advertising sign opportunity that will last till next time they update the photos…could be years!
Here are a couple of reports on it
Another map I like, just because I love maps is a relief map overlay of the world, showing Rivers, mountain ranges etc - in fact 8 million place and geographic names.
See it at Shaded-Relief.com
With the explosion in applications of Google maps, it will go down in history as a significant element in the way we look and discover information. Any time now Google will implement its commercial aspect - hopefully it will be non-intrusive.

One of my developers said that I should put a big banner up but I got lazy and didnt get my act together… Now with all the extra media hype that has surrounded it I wish I did..
