I was looking for details of a program on ABC Radio national this morning.

It was another exercise in using a website that has not been designed with the user in mind, and a clear example of an organisation that fails to recognise the fact that web means easy updating - AKA accurate information.

This is easy to see because as we are now in the middle of the ’summer season’ when many programs are not being aired, the website still reflects many ‘regular’ programs - even right on the main page of the ABC Radio National page.

Maybe the web staff are all on holiday as well…

But no. Even on other parts of the ABC, presenters will still be listed for programs they have not been presenting for MONTHS.

Add to this the woeful search tool on the site. Sorry ABC but it really is a poor reflection - especially when compared with other country’s national broadcasting websites, such as the BBC.

The lesson here is always make sure your website is up-to-date. It is easy, as long as the website is recognised as a mainstream communication method. Devote time and resources to maintaining your website - a failure to do so will reflect poorly on your business as a whole.
