Making purchases on the internet has revolutionised the way many people make purchases. Everything from small personal items, like books, to new cars…just about anything can be bought on the internet using a credit card. But there are risks to the consumer. You can make claims through your credit card provider, but there is no guarantee this will be successful so it is wiser to take precautions.

A story on CBS.com says the big shopping rush starts today - well in the USA anyway, which is great for those of us with a US market presence. It has been a bit quiet so far.
The report says:
Just as retail shoppers are recovering from Black Friday, online shoppers are about to face Cyber Monday. Monday is the unofficial start of the online holiday shopping season when office workers fresh from their Thanksgiving break hit the online stores from the comfort of their workplaces.

It has been interesting to see how employers are thinking more about their employees this Christmas.
How do I know? Easy…the number of employers who are ordering caricatures of their staff as Christmas gifts.
Neat idea hey!
Some have just the staff member, head and shoulders, others have them in situations to reflect their job, while others have them done to reflect their hobbies. Either way, it is a fun, unique gift that shows consideration by employers for their staff.

An item BBC NEWS | Technology | Podcast numbers show ‘few hooked’ looks at the popularity of podcasts.
While it may be useful to download the Science Show from ABC radio if you missed it on the weekend (just listen again on Thursday night), I have never been a fan of home grown podcasting services that lurk around most corners.

Today’s webmaster interview is with someone with whom I have had an ongoing web contact with - via Mark’s Site-Reference forum. Mark Doust has a wide range on experience and skills and this interview opens the door on his experience and insight into the web as a business arena.
If you run more than one website, what is the name and URL of your primary website?

US President George W. Bush has vowed to fight on, despite his savaging at the mid-term polls.
“I’ve taken worse hits in my time - I’m just like the Knight in The Holy Grail - ‘its only a flesh wound’!” said an obviously ruffled president.
Bush said he was not the least bit affected by his electoral flogging, despite now being forced to fight on with his hands tied behind his back.
Australia’s Do Not Call register must be launched ‘no later’ than July 2007. It is anticipated that one million people will register within the first week, with four million to be registered by the end of the first year and half of Australia’s population expected to be registered within five years.
I can hardly wait!

In breaking news… the sentence handed down to Saddam Hussein has been modified by the Iraqi court after protests from Saddam and his defence council.
In a move designed to have the last laugh, Saddam has argued that the trial and the original sentence “was a joke“.
In a dramatic turnaround, the trial judge has ordered that Saddam’s sentence now be changed so that he will now be “tickled to death“.
While they do not make it to the news too often in Australian media - here is an example of SMS being used to create (albeit a slow motion one) a flash mob: Sheik calls off Muslim SMS rally
