Making a positive customer experience – a case study of flying with Singapore Airlines

Having just returned from an overseas trip, I was very impressed by the level of integration of services when dealing with Singapore Airlines, creating a positive customer experience that would see me flying with them again.

Mind your mobile – dangers of personal data gleaned from old phones

An Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association press release warns that new smart phones have capacity to hold a lot of personal information, including financial information, company records and contact lists.

The press release warns of the need to ensure that confidential information was deleted when they decided to either sell the phone or give it to friends or family.

Missed call marketing a trap

It seems that unscrupulous marketers are inventing new ways to target the unwary. A press release from the Australian Communications and Media Authority warns of the missed call tactic,

‘Missed call’ marketing is the term that has been given to the practice of calling a mobile telephone for such a short period of time that the owner cannot answer the call. When the marketer disconnects the call, most mobile phones present a ‘missed call’ notification with the marketer’s number. The marketer intends that the owner of the phone will think that they have missed a legitimate call and ring the number back, in which case they hear a recorded promotional message.

Under this model, the cost of the marketing is also shifted to the target. It is also being seen that additional costs are imposed on the unwary. Continue Reading »
