Mobile phones to track missing people
A MOBILE phone tracking system to find missing people will be available in Australia next month. Makers of the GoFinder say that the system is ideal for carers of those with dementia. The system works by placing a mobile phone on a loved one’s belt. If the person disappears, relatives can gain access to the company’s website to find their approximate location.
GoFinder uses cell site data to find the location with an accuracy of about 150 metres in city environments.
It is good use of existing technology. The idea can and should be used to help track teens at such things as schoolies (an end of high school gathering at many places around Australia for graduating students here in Australia, where booze and drugs cause anxiety for parents), plus any kids mobile – in amall, going out with friends etc. Combined with Google Maps a map of the location is easily achievable.
I wonder how many missing people could be located more quickly…plus cheating spouses, errant workers…

Hi, I am inquiring as to whether the mobile phone tracking device allows the end user to know that you are checking on their whereabouts or is it kept private? Thank you.
I don’t know – you would have to ask the company that deals in it. Maybe there is some access to the phone’s sim password that is needed perhaps.
