I was interested to read this short post by Steve Cone Blog: Number One Reason To Advertise

While he mentions more than one (positioning your company to the public AND motivating employees) it is an interesting take on what roles advertising can really include.

Generally advertising is seen to be about many things including:

  1. Positioning
  2. Awareness (either new product/service or reinforcing awareness of the existance of the business)
  3. Market share (even if only perceived)
  4. Driving sales (via desire or get them into store)

So the notion of the INTERNAL impact of advertising is a concept that may have been overlooked in many campaigns.

So do your staff lower their heads and mumble something when others comment on the ad/s, or do they hold their heads up high, proud to be associated with the public image being portrayed?
