A while back I made a post about how the internet had allowed doors to be opened and skilled peopled allowed out of the closet.

Here is a great example - there is even a whole blog about it Google Maps Mania.

It seems there are 1001 ways to make use of Google maps, heck I even use it to track where people are located who visit my caricatures site (click the ‘geo visitors’ link at the bottom of the page). This if a free version from the nice folks at digitalpoint.

The Google Maps Mania blog has many great examples, like the tourist site which has created a series of map views and overlays for popular Caribbean Island destinations. These maps will help you search for things to do on the island and perhaps will help prepare you to seek out day-tours from the operators once you arrive. Check out Anguilla Map and Satellite and click one of the red place markers.

Other uses mentioned on the blog include bird spotting (bigger the dot the more sightings, fins a school, election results, find a pub and a English Google Map of Shops/Restaurants in Tokyo & Kansai Japan to name just a few.
