New South Wales Premier Morris Iemma has released details of the Government’s plan on how to swiftly evacuate Sydney’s CBD in the event of a terrorist attack.
It is broadly modelled on the strategy used in the recent London bombings.
It will involve a security alert system being activated and the managers of the 1,500 building sites across the city will be sent a SMS text message from an emergency command centre.
Two aspects that are in need of consideration:
1. Mobile phone reception inside buildings
2. That the building site managers are told to set a distinct ringtone for an emergency alert (based on originating number.
